I'm so glad you chose to depict this seminal moment in the ongoing fight for universal civil rights.

Our far-flung family was recently discussing this on Facebook, our virtual family forum. One of my nieces, a newly qualified teacher, mentioned she had just been teaching her class about the 1968 Smith and Carlos protest. My niece is blonde, fair-skinned and lives in London, England; so, although it took a while, you can take heart that the word is still spreading.

In artistic terms, this is a powerful work that forcefully captures Smith's defiant message to the world, even as he realized it would cost him his athletic career.

Ummm! You have gone topical this time. Yes, I agree that there is a dark and grim side to all the glitz and glamour of the Oly! In so far your art is concerned, it is beyond any reproach! The illustration, idea and the skill is outstanding. Well done!

I would not have had any idea what this was about had I not seen the TV Clip which was run about this 2 nights ago(I apologise) But this shows how current you are and how much your art and its messages mean to you - only a true artist achieves this!
Then I love how you have mastered the marker, the patterns in covering the wide spaces, the neatness and fine craftsmanship that ensure that no colours run into each other.
I love the glove, and I love hoe the determined expression is clearly showing on his face.
There is absolutely nothing that can be changed - INCREDIBLE!!!

It was covered on BBC, they have shown quite a bit on bad decisions and politics which have mared many great athletes careers. And I would not say its egg on your face at all as it is possibly still rather quite on these topics in other countries.
Your marker talent is a skill and a gift - you should dare the critics/challengers to a contest?

This is a great drawing depicting the Olympic Games. Your informative notes help bring back the prejudice suffered by your athletes. I like watching the elite athletes competing. I have a hard time with the Olympic Business. Too many people taking unfair advantage of their positions. Sam

I remember the political upheaval this statement stirred up. They gave up a lot to draw attention to the racial situation at home. In a similar but different tact,
brings to mind the Jesse Owens story in 1938 as well.
Great impact with use of black and gold. Like the torch for excellent symbolism.
Well done

Now that's what I call keeping up with current events. You did a great job on this. The details are very well done. Great storytelling in this as well.

I have been waiting for you to do a piece with the olympics theme and here we have it. Nicely done, its a bold piece, the gold rings really stand out well against the dark background. Great artists notes as well

I remember that! We were angry back than, where ever we was, on each side of the iron curtain. A excellent prediction of that time period and an as excellent statement in our time. That is how history and present time meat in art I think.
I don't need to talk of technical perfection. We know you have that always.
Best luck for the contest.
