Wish I had a golden star left - as that is the most beautiful rendition for the purl rain singer - a true Prince who left with the purple flame - excellent composition, the way he shines on the dark stage is fantastic, your detail work n his close accurate realistic and awesome in shades of the spot light- Stunning sharpie illustration - the way he is placed in your space seems to draw him in soul and mind to the higher realms, a fantastic work, thanks for sharing

Wow Mark,
This is great and I knew who it was the minute I saw this. I love the passion you created in his facial features. I also love the color palette that you chose to use for this work.
Are you sure he died? I can't remember! Whatever, you did a great job on this and I have to give you a six star for this.
Have a great weekend~

This is an excellent drawing of the pop icon. Very dramatic use of colour with the black background really making it pop. Great detail as always in your lovely drawings showing the guitar perfectly. Excellent use of colour. Great composition. Certainly worth reviving. Suzanne

At first glance I immediately thought of Prince whether that was the intention or not. I love the purple. The spotlight in upper left corner draws your eye to the singer. The lighting is awesome as in the background where it should be lit it is purple, in the foreground and where you do not want attention it is black. This piece is orderly, extremely detailed so as to hold your attention but not distract from the focus. Love the purple shadow on the cheek. The shadow on the lower half of the cheek and neck, although it does not detract from the overall quality, is a slight tad off in my opinion. If by chance you wanted to create lips in that area as if a kiss were there then that would be ok. If on the other hand it is merely shadowing, the tones could be better served if not so contrasted. I love this piece. I cannot imagine the time consuming effort it must have taken. Congratulations on a job so very well done!

You crazy guy. I can't believe what you keep coming up with. This viewer is highly entertained. More than that, if you squeeze it out of me, I will tell you that I appreciate your nonstandard approach to art.

I really like the way you have him partially in from the waist down, it gives the art a really nice flow Mark. I've noticed you using the technique of late, the other one was on that devil singing the blues.
This is beautiful and I do not mind that his guitar is partially cropped and out of the frame...we are caught up in the emotion and mood.
Good one.
