A great close up profile portrait of the male Cardinal spliting open the sunflower seed while keeping a close eye on you. His bright plumage standing out in contrast to the green of the background. Artistic composition, framing & lighting. taken with superb camera techniques & razor sharp focus. He is a handsome fellow & knows it!

Wow he is lovely, have never seen a bird like that before. I like how you have captured him close up, it is so sharp and he is such a vivid colour. I like how he has the seed in his mouth, it gives an added interest. Good composition entry, good luck.

Do I need to guess who is behind this excellent shot of a red Cardinal ? The red colors of this bird are indeed striking, and set against the a background with olive green hues, even more so. It is perfect with the silky smooth look. I also think the fact that the bird is holding a seed in its beak adds interest to this shot.
Your focus is spot on showing clear and well defined details both in the features and the feathers. Especially the bright and shiny eye is captured so well. The colors are nice and natural and the exposure is perfect.
The bird is well placed within the frame, and the tight cropping works well. This is a nicely composed photo with a nice balance and excellent DOFF, and I wish you luck with the contest.
