Well it's his loss - she's stunning! This is just a fabulous creation. The splashes of red really lift the piece which is so elegant in design. I wish I had an ounce of your talent - so very clever and a joy to review. Here's a cyber 10 as I have no sixes. I love it!

Hi Shawn,
I like a bit of "dark art"
every now and then.It keeps
people in tune with reality.
This one is at the opposite
spectrum of your usual work
however,I find a charm in this
Her expression is perfect but
I must admit the dress is a
scene stealer.That filter does
some lovely work.Love the water and the floating rose.
Up,up,up!!
Angelheart :)

Quite an effective portrayal of the situation you described. The style and technique are excellent, and it is a well composed image. The red roses are just the perfect touch. Nice work. A pleasure to view.

Simply beautiful. The use of color, line and overall painterly quality, not typically found in portrait paintings makes this image especially interesting. You illustrate the idea very well during the creative process. Well done!

This is so very creative and unique. I love the lines and textures in her dress, it's spectacular. I also think by using a selective color also works here for the mood and initial impact of this beautiful piece. Very well done.

I think the composition is a nice one for the most part. I think that the dress should have been more in the frame, that is slight detractor to the flow. The dress having all that pattern, texture throughout seems too much. In most gowns the bottom is like that and the top, the bust area is smoother to help accentuate the body. If that area was smoother it would tie in better with the background. The work looks good and you did a nice job with the digital media, but to me there needs to be a better balance, between positive and negative space. I am thinking is her face the focal point, or is it the flowers, or the dress, it needs it have one be more dominate and then the rest are supporting components.

She has a film star 1950's look in my opinion. I like the monochrome tones with just the lips and flowers being closed. The style of the dress is very Diana Dors or similar and I love the overall texture which covers the whole torso. I remember dresses like these although I was only a young child. The arch adds some more interest to the scene, as does the palm. Just noticed the reflection of the rose which is a nice touch too, adding yet more red. Visually very pleasing.

Yes, I was thinking of the movies of the 50's where they wore all the slips under the prom dresses. :) Thank you so much for the beautiful review. I really appreciate it. :)shawn

Love the arched look of the background and the facial feature that show the disappointment you describe. The dropped rose is a great addition to the composition of the painting.
Very nice work here.
