Like a Candle in the Wind

Ok I am going to be a pain in the ... again.
Come on Annie, who do you think you are fooling? You have deleted the total background and added a soft misty vignette to the whole thing. The candle appears to be floating in mid air and does not appear to be sitting on a solid surface. If someone else did that I am sure you would call it mixed media.
Taking a photo or a screen shot of your mixed media creation and trying to convince me it is not mixed media is very amusing. The mixed media work is great so you get five stars for it but you get a three from me for trying to convince me this is not mixed media. I apologize if this offends you but I simply don't see it as an ordinary photo. I am sure you wouldn't either if someone else told this unconvincing story and you were judging the work as to whether it was mixed media or not. If you had simply said it was a photo of your mixed media creation I can believe that a lot easier.
Sorry, but that's what I honestly think.

LOL - I am not offended at all, but you are wrong. If I had not added the the vignettes, you would have clearly seen that the candle was sitting on something. First I added the slightly purple one as close as possible to the face and candle, and then the white one twice. As far as I know it is permitted to add vignettes. The scaffolding i built had light underneath, then I had light coming in from both sides, and of course from the screen itself. The background of the original photo was nearly white, and also the paper I used was white. I should probably have gone into even more details in my notes, but I knew if I did not write anything at all, people would for sure think this was mixed media. I agree that if I had seen something like this, I would also have called it mixed media, but now when I actually have done this myself, I know it is possible to achieve this. It took my half a day to get it right. I could not say it was a photo of my mixed media creation, because it wasn't.

Ok, in that case I will apologize for my suspicions but I am sure you can understand them. I am not a very trusting person because too many people have lied to me in the past and in spite of the fact that I like giving people the benefit of the doubt, when the doubt in my own mind is stronger then I usually go with my own judgment till such a time as I am convinced it is wrong.
You seem to go to a lot of trouble for a photo Annie. Creating scaffolding with a light under it? You really are unique. LOL. Most people wouldn't bother because this effect is so easy to create digitally.
Thank you for being a good sport and for being so accepting of my opinions and mistrusting nature. ;-)

No problem. I would have been thinking just like you. I know this was a lot of work for nothing, because as you say, this effect would be very easy to create digitally. I was just so hung up with the idea that I had to try.
-
Well at least you have a fancy scaffolding with a light under it now for some unique shots. I am sure noone else would have one.
-
LOL - I am afraid it is deconstructed.
-
Why? You go to all that trouble to create something unique and then pull it all apart?

Very well done. The combination of the two(Princess Dianna and the candle)really work well together.Well framed and love the frosty background. Thanks for sharing.
