Thank you Julie. I draw for God and He shows me how.
Comment from Lucien van Oosten

Lima, I like the composition, the way you laid out the figures is really good the viewer can Identify with the man being talked to look at the havens and see the (what?). I think a small speck of light are to the area she is pointing would have made it a complete drawing.

I am also thinking that the tonal quality, the depth of darkness in the background areas, especially the sky on the right side needs to be darker, as does a little on mans robes to the right, know what i mean?

Also that unfinished strip along the bottom is a detractor, and should be cropped out.

Thank you Lucien for your critique on this piece. Your advice is very welcome, and appreciated. I will take into account what you have said, and apply this advice in future projects.
Comment from Life is but a dream.

Linda, this is beautiful and the story is rich and deep.

I am troubled by your lack of tonal variance. It feels like there is an opacity filter or screen over this and my eyes ache to see this in clearer format. This may be your intention however to give it a dream like effect of something that happened 2,014 years ago! Was that your intention?

Personally, I would much rather see it in clear focus, but that is just me.

Dear Life, I so appreciate you caring enough to give me your advice. It means a lot to me. I know that the image is rather obscured. I don't have the original, and I had to photo copy one of the remaining Christmas Cards. I think that there was a lot of reflection. But I know what you mean. This image is blurry.

I like the representation. I think if there was a star in the sky it would have made it more authentic. The star is what got the shepherd's attention and what took them to the barn and baby in the manger. I like you shading. Just put that star in there. :)

But Mama, you just did. Your imagination put the star there, and that makes it all the more wonderful. You know the story. Thank you for caring enough to review this piece.

Wow that is really a design with a holy touch just by the way you were able to create the light in this scene , without knowing anything about any religion this looks divine , you have caught up the essence of divine life in perfection, this white hand showing the way says it all , your skills with pencil are beyond as you are able to create even the foggy glow of divine light - perfection pure in details, excellent composition, super accurate for this time , amazing job, thanks for sharing

Truly a beautiful and powerful
presentation. The shepherds were such an important part of Jesus's birth - you just wouldn't expect God to give this message to the lowly shepherds, but he did.
Your work is amazing.
And to think you did this with pencils - just blows my mind.
A joy to review

My goodness are you talented. A real appropriate and inspiring drawing for the Christmas season. I can see why you would use it on Christmas cards. Well drawn, the shepherds are aglow and the lighted areas of the drawing are where they should be. Well done. :)

I knew this was yours when I first saw it, because it was such an amazing drawing and piece of art. Great detail and yet a little mystical and cloudy. Fantastic.
