This is a luscious post and reminds me of Sakura time in Japan when the Japanese all go nuts, have picnics, visit the blooming trees....sounds like you do the same thing.
I like the way you have framed this by using what is already available to you...that is your artistic side showing itself in your compositional styles. Placing the tree to the side with all those blooms spreading out is visually very attractive and they add as lead lines taking our eyes on a journey. The flow is from L to R and that is the natural pathway of the eye (the western eye) to read, so your image adds to a comfortable feeling.
Love that bridge that is playing peekaboo with our eyes in the background, that further engages us viewers.
There is nothing here that I can suggest for improvement.
Your usage of filters is subtle and has given it a deep contrast and textural quality that I find so appealing.
Nice one Mary.

Thank you. These are the same trees found in Washington, DC. A gift from the Japanese government so long ago. I read that they take cuttings from the original trees so they have replacements because they will only last about 50 yrs. Many of ours have been replaced because of age or damage from floods.
-
Meg, I don't think Sakura trees only last 50 years, at least in Japan they don't.
-
I could be wrong. I read it in wiikapedia about the Washington, DC trees. Our trees were planted sometime in the late 1950's and many have been replaced . I will look it up again. Ours are non fruit bearing.

This shot shows the natural beauty this tree provides, and I like how the sky is overcast here which gives the shades a softer darkness. Great background too, with a subtle hint of buildings there, with the main attraction the tree. Great contrast too, with the branches giving a more solid shape to the photo.

Thank you. These are ornamental trees so they do not bear fruit. They are the same type that are found in Washington, DC
-
Oh I see,,never knew there such trees that bloom but nothing else happens,,

They are Japanese cherry trees. You can only make new trees from cuttings I am told
