Did I see this already? Nonetheless, I love the purple and pinks going on; good way you used the black backing for contrast and to make them pop out more; the soft lighting is not too little and not too much. Nice. Take care.

A lovely, well positioned photograph of this row of flowers, captured with great clarity and showing the small stigma emerging from the centre in great detail. Good lighting as the colour is lively and vivid yet shadowed well against the black, emphasising the shades of purple nicely. Great work.

That's another very impressive Floral Image,Deb!
I'm only familiar with the tiny 'ground cover' variety of Phlox myself ( like the type I've told you about which grow over in that old cemetery across the road from my house and which sometimes take root in my front yard if the wind carries some of the seeds over here! )
Anyway,I'm especially liking the lighting in this picture,my friend! It has a cool 'after dark' look that I really like!

Thank you so much for having a look and giving this new piece such a nice review.....and Happy Easter too Sean.

You are good at finding vibrant colors that are accentuated well with the dark background and you do a nice job with the light. These flowers have a pretty symmetrical shape and color combination as well as a lovely texture that stands out well. Visually stimulating line up and framing of the flowers too!

Your discovery of this beautiful perennial is not uncommon, at least to me.
We cultivate 3 or so varieties of the plant in our gardens. I can recall more than one visitor who would just stand and stare at these lovely giants of the backyard. After a few cursory questions regarding cultivation etc. they would head out and get some for themselves - happens every time.
Another of Debs night time florals with wonderful gentle lighting provided by the reliable, never fail, top of the line, high tech flashlight. LOL. Just kidding. I am still in awe of how well your simple solution to a vexing problem has worked out.
Your camera technique in conjunction with the lighting scheme has rendered another very well exposed and composed take.
I don't want to keep harping about the lighting, but it makes this capture just "Pop". The central blossom is strong but evenly lit and stands out from the rest - as it should be. The lighting intensity varies by degrees for the other blossoms and as such makes them a strong support for the main character. I guess you could call them the chorus.
The DOF is excellent all the blossoms are well detailed and stand out nicely.
The black background provides a sharp and pleasing contrast for the entire take.
I love your technique with blooms. After due consideration of this take I can find no one area that can be improved ... B-)) Bob

awww Bob....you are just THE best!! ...and you, dear man, may harp on anything you like. Your reviews are just a joy...you get all the technical rigga-ma-roll down flawlessly (and I DO appreciate that as it's rather rare in many reviews unfortunately) But there's something also so charming about your reviews as well. A quiet endearing combination you know.
So thank you so much for another just delightful review and I am more pleased than you know by your kind words and lol your appreciation of my 'lighting technique' and, OF COURSE, for the shiny gold star. Thank you for ALL of it!

You must have a Botanical Garden in the Spring and Summer at your place. How beautiful the color is on this gorgeous flower. You really captured the detail and highlights from the middle to the end of the petals. Proud piece for sure.

A beautiful flower. I (confirming my status as an old fuddy duddy) love phlox. This is a great shot with beautiful colors and extremely sharp details. The lighting is excellent and the cropping is outstanding.

lol...oh no mm....that was not a very tactful thing for me to say I'm afraid.... but I cannot stop smiling over your review......I have come to love them myself and plead sheer ignorance for my earlier assessment of them. Thank you so much for the really wonderful review you gave my new piece and please forgive my less than 'diplomatic' notes.
