Wonderful digital painting of a rare, or strange bird species. The background is especially beautiful with the vivid purples, greens somewhat and the ground is fine. The body, head, bright eye and feather and tail wings are lovely, especially the latter.The legs and claws are ok, the nails the better part of thoe.

Great work here Cleo. It reminds me of a small species of Dove that I see here in Mexico. There are many species of doves, the Rock Dove (Pigeon) being the most noticeable.

The species you see in Mexico might be Inca Doves [check at Wikipedia].
The bird in my painting has similarities with the Rock Doves but is only halve the size of them.

I looked through the relative material i have and I think this is a Wood Pigeon. Compared to the illustration I saw your rendition is accurate in color and shape.
Your expertise with the digital art is impressive. When I first viewed this piece I honestly thought it was analog oil on canvas - Well done. I particularly enjoy your brush strokes as a halo with a hint of a shadow.

The bird looks indeed like a Wood Pigeon, but it has only half the size of this species. :o)
