I love colour and this painting delivers. I especially like the distant rock formation at the horizon line, it serves as a good focal point. The textures in the sand and the foam on the ocean are nicely done. I find the figures though to be indistinct and without the artist's notes would not have been able to understand their relationship. While I like almost all of the component parts of the painting, in their entirety, the painting is very dark. thanks for sharing

What a lovely painting you have of Polly. Been to NZ about 7 times so can relate to your beach scene. You didn't say what area it is taken from. I like the way you have done the run out tide and water lapping the beach. I ca hear the sea. Wonderful. Sandy

Hi Sandy, thanks so much for your very nice review. This was on the Pacific coast near Manawhai beach. It's a lovely area with lots of deserted beaches.

I have just looked Manawhai beach up. One photo show the sand flats just like you have painted them. Wonderful. I have been past the turn off so many times. sandy

Wonderful painting! Good composition, nice translucency of the shallow water. Emotional story, Im sure this was a labour of love.

Very nice seascape with the distant mountains and the waters rolling up on to land as the water in the foreground appears to be pulling back into the ocean. I like how you have brought out the foaminess of the waters very nice . Sorry for your lose of Polly. Great job and thank you for sharing with us.

Cute painting, a doggie romping at the beach. Such a nice scene. Good white water effect, nice job on the doggie's reflection and the feeling of movement in the painting.

The beautiful colors of this painting first jumped out at me in the thumbnail, suzanne.
Then when I switched to he larger view - I saw Polly at the beach and immediately thought of times I've taken Shep to the beach and gotten much this same impression. He always loved the water and the sand.
This is such a strong and impressive image - not only in technique and style - but also in feeling. Probably stemming from Polly - and so sad to hear of the tumor. But what a lovely memory with this oil on canvas block!

Another beautiful example of your work.
Lovely colors with good blend and mix.
Sorry about Polly she does look beautiful.
I love the sky and the deepening shades of blue/grey as clouds are gathering.
The waves breaking on the beach are gentle and relaxing.Great color here also.
Thank you for sharing.

What a lovely work of art! Love the lovely colors as they blend into each other so beautifully. Your highlights and shadows really bring this work to life for me. I also love the story this tells of a beautiful dog having fun in the water. Wonderful work! Katy
