I like the way you have used so many different shades of blue throughout. Your use of oils is very effective and creates the look of crashing waves well, I can hear the sound as I look at them. I believe you have communicated the spirit of the waves in this painting. How the sky, water and rocks and all the great vast sea below all go together in perfect harmony. I feel something very strong and good about this painting. Beautiful

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I've lived a large part of my life by the sea both in the UK and in New Zealand and have always felt an affinity to it and love to try and capture the feeling. Suzanne

I love the tones of blue you have used in this rather haunting painting. You can almost imagine a ship coming into view battling to stay off the rocks. Lots of energy in the waves. Well done!

Viewed this from 3 metres to give a gallery view and removes any of the problems associated with photographing a painting.

really like the portrayal of the power of the sea. Great use of colour first impressions if you don't look at title or notes would be storm approaching or late evening.

Thanks for sharing this, Mark

It's so great, - you are by the Pacific and I'm by the North Atlantic, but waves are waves everywhere. You have captured the choppy waves and the evening atmosphere in your art work. It's so beautiful! You have framed the ocean with the sky above and the stones in the foreground. The color nuances are many and wonderful to study. Thank you for sharing your ocean! Karin.

This is again one of your wonderfull paintings. As I adore the blue color, this is one of my favorites. The movement of the water is very well done. I love your paintings Suzanne, thanks for sharing them.

Another lovely painting Suzanne, love the waves the way they are highlighted and shaded with lovely rich dark contrast. Nice composition too. Also like the water splashes, and the background with good highlights. Good choice for the contest, All the best for the contest.

This is lovely. Your technique and talent has worked well for this. The detail in the waves is wonderful. Your use of the oils has done a good job on presenting this. Maybe a bit on the dark side but then that is a preference for myself.

Many thanks for your great review and I'm glad you like this. It did photograph just a little bit darker unfortunately! You know how rubbish I am at photography! Suzanne

Wow, great feeling of movement, and impending storminess. Love the dark blues and greys here.
Kohi (the dog) sometimes swims here? Looks a bit rough for swimming to me. :-) Maybe it looks different on calm days though.

Many thanks for your lovely comments. Yes, it's not always quite so rough although he doesn't seem to mind anyway! Suzanne
