Beautiful piece, excellent for display purposes. You have a very strong hold of the medium; crisp lines, great use of color and clear division between the bits of imagery. Very refined, very talented and masterfully executed. I love the application of salt; does well to break up the soft flow of the piece and brings the softness of the flowers to the forefront of the image. Also adds contrast to the piece, which is something that it is lacking (to an extent). A little more contrast would have made the piece a little more dynamic and pronounced. Not a big deal though, and without being very precise in its application more contrast could very easily have ruined the calm mood of your painting. It appears as through there is a good use of tones; kinda have to guess at that. The photo is good, but doesn't appear to be the best representation of your work. That is to say that your painting is better than the photograph the presents it online. I would suggest running your photos through an editing program to brighten them up a little, maybe touch up the contrast (JUST A LITTLE). Art is all about presentation, on canvas or online you have to present well.
It is nice to see a traditional artist on this site. There are a lot of "digital media" artists, something I am not entirely fond of. And there are a lot of beginners who have a hard time taking criticism positively. You have some fantastic work, I look forward to seeing more of it on this site.

Thank you so much for your detailed review. I'm afraid I'm no photographer and it takes me all my time to use my digital camera to point and shoot without moving my hands! I do find that my pastel paintings and watercolours don't seem to come out in photo's as well as those done in oils. However, I do keep trying! Thanks once again for taking time to review. Suzanne
