OMG Willie this head shot looks exactly like my painting called Still Hunter
Unbelievable Focus its so very clear and clean you can see every detail
The background color is just perfect it mimics the Blue Greys on the head
The Lighting is again just perfect

Just goes to show you that you can never predict how animals or birds will behave! Your composition is great here, focus is very good as the exposure. So we have lots of good detail and colour to enjoy. Not sure I like the very dark blue/black colour above the heron, it seems quite out of keeping with the rest of the image. Otherwise very nice work, well done!

I have tried many times to get close to these beautiful birds and they always get spooked too soon and consequently I don't get the detail that you captured here.
The composition is nice. With the birds head and neck dominating the left side of the frame, his long beak extends all the way to the right, creating good balance.
Your color is true and the background is not distracting but keeps the look very real.
The details are sharp and you got some nice light.
