Good framing. Strong initial impact. The red color of the ball tends to take the attention away from the bird. Good focus on the bird.

The red ball was worth the wait. It adds that holiday color, and spices up the photograph considerably. If you just had the bird, it would be a boring photograph. Here the color contrasts with the bird. You also limited your depth of field by using the zoom (more than the aperture setting, in this case apparently, because 9.5 is an average f stop). This allowed you to make the bird the focal point because it is in such sharp focus.
Overall effect -- very good photograph.
