I used a photo as reference like I do all my paintings. I think someone must think I paint over photos, had that same complaint about my regal paintings but NO I don't paint over a photo, LOL. In this one I had 6 different angles of this ship from internet photos of models. Most were pretty pixilated so the rigging was a bit difficult to figure out, but my husband also builds these models so he was able to help me with the placement of most of it. I tried to get as detailed as I could like I do all my paintings, but things like this is a bit more hard to do, especially since the photos that I used were all different just the same ship is all, some had the sails up others the sails down.
thanks so much for the review Lorraine

p.s wanted to thank you for all your help if it weren't for your help with lighting, shading, and focus on object I'd still be a long way in figuring out some things. You have been a huge help

I like the detail, it is well done, congratulations on the construction, not so much a complaint I would add, it is a complement when you get a reaction like that, remember that your own artistic interpretation and creativity is what is at the heart of art, dont' create for the audience, I learned a long time ago, that what "media" you create with does not matter as much as finding your own vision in what you use....sometimes I like to build a "photo" manipulation, photos clips and the like are no less creative than using a certain brush or pattern...great work,. glad I could help you work out some ideas

Morning My dear and I truly think this is a great depection of this very majestic ship "the Cutty Chark". The effect the filter you applied makes this a somewhat sureal but captivating shot of a schooner (or is it a clipper)on a rolling sea, sky tells me the storm just broke and the sun is about to imerge, thus the full sail..thanks for thaking me home, LOL. Wishing you a wicked day, C
