I thought I was looking at a painting. I always look at the picture first, then read the comments and title afterwards. You did a beautiful job on this. I thought it was a painting. I would be proud to hang it in my home!

Thank you very much. It is done like a painting. The same strokes like in traditional art. Just that I do them on a pad. I had to stop several times after painting grass spades for hours.

Thank you very much! Do NOT worry about those sixes!!! I cannot award some to you either. Same-o-same.
I was still working on mine; when I saw your entry. It was hard to believe, there they were; my Old West favorites; the Buffalo. It is hard to believe how often we come up with an similar idea...Cleo

Yes, what happened to the buffalo was crime on a grand scale and tragedy.
They're numbers are miniscule today compared to what they once were, but they are no longer hunted, and range free in certain parks.
I like how we see hem here, the large one in front, the calf right behind, and a few more in the backround giving perspective and depth to the picture.
I like the way the buffalo are colored..the browns and reds, and then underneath..the black.
The backround contrasts well with the light greens of the fields, (even lighter around the foreground buffalo)and the darker forests, blue skys and clouds.
I like the length of your brush strokes and how the picture is textured.
The light is bright as if it were a summers day. With the shadows..I wonder what time that would be..around 3:00?
Like the bit of white wildflower in the right foreground.
Nice composition. Like how the line of the large buffalos back is parallel with the line of the grass horizon, and how the green area opens out as if to accomodate the shape of the buffalo.
nicely done Cleo.

Thank you Filly, for your thoughtful and through review way above average. I really appreciate it. Around 3:00pm is abut right. It's afternoon indeed. I have my memories of Yellowstone, Custer's State Park, SD, and the Big Plains mixed in this one.

Very nice picture depicting a peaceful scene although my imagination is leaping ahead expecting the native Americans about to break the tree line , that is for me the mark of a good piece of art , the ability to take you out of yourself into another time or place, this picture certainly does that.

Cleo, this is very nice indeed. The perspective is lovely, as is the detail of the grasses, hill and trees and, of course, the buffalo. Good job- best of luck in the contest!

Thank you very much!!!
Me too, I am still hocked to the wild west. It got even worse when I finally did see the big plains and the Buffalo herds of Yellowstone and Custer State Park, South Dakota.
-
oh id love to go to both places , been around the south west , grandcanyon and mounument valley but want to go Yellowstone and see the bighorn battle site
-
If you have a chance go to Wyoming. There are the cascade mountains and Yellowstone. go to Cody too if you can. Its Buffalo Bills town. A bit touristy, but they have all those western museums, historic buildings, Old Trail Town and the Rodeo!
-
ah yes i know about Cody a lady who was on here last year used to live there and her husband sent me quite a few links to it , so yes a great idea thanks

Always you're welcome.

Digitally painted! Now you've peeked my curiosity. This is definately something I want to explore.
The composition is very pleasing, the rendering of the buffalo is excellent and
I can sense them planted solidly on the ground. I can feel the sunshine and imagine how the dry grass would crunch under my step. The colors work in harmony and value levels have been done very well. Good work!

Thank you, I appreciate your review very much.
I use ArtRage. Check it out, its online. I love the program, truth I only use the tools, which are similar to traditional painting. It needs experience and exercise to paint that way, just as traditional. It needs time as well, but the messy splatter of paint all around dos not occur.
