This is a lovely close up of a Cardinal, and I think the green background is just perfect for the red bird. He almost looks a bit angry, but the eye is standing out really shiny and clear.
Your focus is spot on showing clear and well defined details in the feathers, and the exposure is perfect. I really like how well you captured the shine in the black feathers.
The tight cropping and the format are both very good, and the head of the bird is well placed within the frame. An excellent shot, and I wish you luck with the contest.

I really do like the close view - I can see such amazing detail. The composition and cropping work incredibly well here. The colour is glorious and he certainly has a look of annoyance - I'd keep clear of that beak!

I never realized the black around the bill looked so much like a beard of hair before. As pretty as they are from afar, they look very mean up close. The focal point is centered right on the eye and beak, I normally like deeper on macro but this one actually works for the emphasis. Nice colors, texture and composition.

A gorgeous image. The colors in the cardinal look very natural. I like the bokeh. The detail is very crisp. The lighting is nice...not too harsh, not too soft. I like the composition and the way the bird seems to be looking at the viewer. Very nice work!!
