You are one very talented lady. This oil is tremendously done. Great colors, lighting, and even movement in the water. Seriously, excellent piece, and good luck in the contest.

Lovely scene and your piece has portrayed it at a very appealing and with a good composition. Because it is impressionistic, I did step back from it to really appreciate its beauty and it is very beautiful. Wonderful work of art and good contest entry. Good Luck.

Very pretty and serene. I love the tree and the reflections in the water. Nice subtle colors. It looks quiet, nothing moving. Very nice looking place to go. Great painting!

Thought this was a photograph when I saw the thumbnail. When called up larger on my sceen I can see it is a beautiful painting. I like the composition a great deal since this could be the canal where I live. The canal runs outside my front door and has greenery either side with trees too. Beautiful reflection in the water with the picture framed by a overhanging branch and leaves. The curve of the river takes the eye into the background. I particularly like the textures in this work which could be due to the type of canvas you used or perhaps due to your brush strokes, or perhaps a combination of both. Very pretty. Good Luck in the contest.

Very realistic rendition of a clean Ricer Wharfe with its meandering pathway.
The reflection is so real that at first I've mistaken it for a photograph.
The shiny surface of the waters, invite you to wade and enjoy the experience. The lush greenery is so refreshing...

Just gorgeous. Well framed top to bottom with just the right detail in the tree and grasses. The water with it's reflective images makes this a magical moment showing the artistry of the one with the brush. A terrific painting from the distant trees to the hint of flowers around the tree. Thank you for sharing this moment with us.

A nice sweep on the river - reminds me of a river near where I grew up. It makes me want to sit under that tree with a book.

I love the painting which is very reminiscent of the river near to Rievaulx Abbey. However that river is the River Rye. The headwaters of the River Wharfe lie within Wharfedale The river source is at Beckermonds, Langstrothdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and flows through Kettlewell, Grassington, Bolton Abbey, Addingham, Ilkley, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Otley, Wetherby and Tadcaster. It then flows into the River Ouse near Cawood. The section of the river from its source to around Addingham is known as Upper Wharfedale and has a very different character to the river downstream. The Wharfe is completely different in nature to that of the Rye which lies in one of the deep valleys of the North York Moors. Going back to the painting this reminds me of where the footpath goes through the water meadows upstream from the abbey. The colours , depth of field, sense of tranquillity with the river flowing gently through the fields remind me of my many visits to this area. Thanks for sharing

Many thanks for your lovely review. This was actually the Wharfe as I said in my notes, we were camping near Rievaulx which I know isn't on the Wharfe, but we made several excursions from there to different parts.
-
I would be interested to know where abouts this is as it looks too narrow for the lower stretches below Bolton Abbey
-
It was near Jackdaw Crag, not far from Boston Spa.
-
Thanks for that. Just down from the A1 at Wetherby towards Tadcaster. You have made the river look very narrow and shallow by giving the impression you are at water level, rather than looking down from the crag. That's what got me confused. Still a nice painting with artistic licence

This is a nice tranquil and serene scene with lots of greenery. I love how the tree frames the painting and how the trees reflect in the water. Colors harmonize and there is nice DOF.
