Very nice photograph and use of oil painting filter. This is a male moose. It has the budding of antlers which are only present in male moose. He looks young because his 'beard' is small. All male moose shed their antlers each year - but grow back each year even bigger. Great detail, color, and technique. Thanks for sharing.

We do not have therse animals in the UK, except in zoos probably. I think they are very strange. But beautiful in their own peculiar way. They look somewhat like a deer but the head is quite different. And that is the part which I find strange and perhaps a little comical. Very good shot with the animal appearing to be posing quite patiently for you. Your framing is very good as is focus and natural lighting. Colours are natural in appearance too. Good Luck in the contest at voting time.

Very nice focus and detail achieved throughout the entire moose. Reminds me of a reindeer :-)
I'm torn on the oil painting filter - one side of me REALLY likes it while the other is suggesting it's unreal or almost fantasy. Regardless - this is a subjective point of view that in no way effects the overall brilliance of the image.
