Wow, what a terrific shot. Thanks for the history, too. I like the background that way as the locust really shows up brilliantly. Great story telling here. I can read behind the devastation in the fields and see the devastation on farmers and families. Creatitivity, center of interest and color harmony are also excellent. Thanks for sharing this.

I really like how you did the background in black and white. It really brings out the beauty of the locust. Nice and clear and very well focused. Thanks for sharing.

I can see that the lighting conditions were poor for this photo. Nevertheless, it is a nice sharp picture of the locust, which is very colorful. The locust does look a bit overexposed in the final result. Desaturating the background was a good idea.

Thank you so much. Yes it is overexposed. I turned the exposure down low as possible any more I would have lost to much detail on the Locust. I usually avoid taking pictures this time in the day. Much of the higher foliage was already eaten so the light was worse than normal and refecting on the insects above.

I like what you have done with this in the mixed media. The selective colour works well for this. Maybe a bit bright in the area wher the black and white is but works ok. Nicely presented.

Thank you so much. Yes it is very bright. It is why I saturated. It is much worse in color. The light conditions were horrible but I had only the choice between taking as is or not at all. Turning down more doesn't work. It gets to dark and doesn't look good at all.

lol haha, i would find them beautifull :P but cobra :P it comes in my dreams every night, and i can't even sleep :(

I like this partial coloring, let the viewer stay on the center of interest, if you had done some vignetting it would have been look more focused but still its nice touch. Well done and all the best.

I agree a few are beautiful. If they come single I agree. But you don't want them swarming. There were thousands. They hit you everywhere if you go outside. Fly in your mouth if you open it. They eat every living plant in the area even nibbled on our roofs. I may post some more pictures in time.
Thank you so much for your review. I tryed the vignetting but tis feature doesn't workes the same in my program as it does in yours. It never looks good if I try. I get each time jaleous when I see yours.

I don't have photoshop. But I'm just experimenting with a new program I bought In Mexico but for now it won't work properly and freeze my computer all the time. I hope I can fix it.

I know but PS is to expensive for me and I don't know if I get it through the customs into Mexico. If it is not banned it would be US $ 1,300,- to by it in the US and the same on taxes or more to get it in to Mexico. It may never arrive there but if it ever does it could be damaged. I had once an expensive repair part for a camera send down. When it finally arrived after several months it was broken. Mexico is an third world country.
So I have too work with what is available to me.

I have bought it for just US$200, luckily i met a guy here, who cracks all kind of softwares, and he gave me for US$200. If it was easy to send, i would have purchased for you, but we send gemstones all over the world, even mexico, but it never happend, and no customer has ever complaint us. Gemstones are surely expensive than US$1300 :) anyways.

Your gemstones are business. Mexico wands and needs this.
Private has different rules. The situation is to complicated to explain with email. I'm not citizen of Mexico, I have only residency there. May I find something out wile I'm in the US. The prize I have is what they are selling it on the Internet. Thanks for wanting to help.

Hi, what a combo of hoppers. I love the vibrant colors of the flowers and hoppers. great focus also. the thing i didn't like is the front left and front right in black and white. That should have kept in color and the back ground should have been in black & white. Thanks for shariing

Thank you so much for your generous review Kim. The fronts was actually one of the reasons I saturated. Do to the difficult light conditions and reflections on leaves and blossoms all color was blown out and they looked white. If you like to see the original I'll be happy to post it in my portfolio.

Boy, you are a real good roll right now with your photos. You are showing some very good creative pieces. Keep it going. I like the colors versus the black and white you have done here. Good framing. I feel sorry for the plant with these guys on it.

    Thank you so much.
You should have seen it. The plant was down to the roots but survived. We were lucky the main swarm just flew over [for several hours] Only a couple 1000 landed in our village. Wile I was taking pictures they hit everywhere on my body and my camera. Fortunately they dislike both as food. I will post more in time.

Wow, that must have been a site to see. When did this happen? I can't wait to see more. Grasshoppers don't bother me. Spider yes, thank goodness they don't swarm.

Fortunately they wont swarm often. That was in the end of September 2006.
