Normally I would have said to blur the background slightly but I think you are right to have left it in focus here. He's a little bit green - I'm not sure if it's refelction from the leaves or whether he's caught in your 'upping' of the contrast but I like this.

Lighting is good. It is coming over the birds shoulder. Initial impact for me was nice photo in its environment. The action is him fishing in the shoreline reeds and water. Cropping I like we not only get to see a pretty good shot of the bird but also his surrounds which really helps the interest level. Focus looks pretty good. The bird looks just a little soft like out of focus some. Color is good. Center of interest is mainly the bird.
