Excellent pointillism rendering. Good detail and nice textures. I like the fact that there are no hard lines at all, only dots. Nice portrait of Princess. Thanks for sharing.

JB Stevenson,
you are most welcome.
This technique takes time, not to brag; but the result for me is stunning. Thank you also for the high praise on the piece.(a six)
Thank you for your support of my artwork. I am very pleased you liked and enjoyed my stipple drawing of the German Shepherd. The trick is how to make it look representative of the subject, by just using the dots of ink.
Have great week,
Cheers!

I should have rated this a 6 had I not ran out of power this week...
This is what pointillism is all about.
I like the conscientious rendering of the tedious dots. Patience and perseverance is evident in Sir Lucien's artwork. The careful rendition of the points in the dark and light areas. The interplay of light and shades appears like a photograph from a distance. We can almost feel the stiffness of the canine's ears. The impressive contact from an 'alive' pupil. We can almost assess the weight of its hyperventilating tongue just by seeing the dotted outline of the taste organ. Everything here has its proper share of points according to its tonal value--from the moist nose to the fluffy fur near the shaded part of the tongue.
No flaws whatsoever...
Thank you Sir for sharing.

Thank you also Sir for sharing your artistry. Your stipple drawing is not hastily done, not like mine. At least I got a hint from your very neat rendition of Princess...
Have a blessed weekend...

This is truly amazing Lucien and the fact that this is all done with dots is simply awesome! My last dog was a German Shepherd and he was a beautiful dog, this work reminds me so much of him.
Great detail , just superb!

trishgoody,
this piece is available for purchase.
The time it takes depends on the size of course, this one approximately 40 hours. To me the eyes are what captive you and hold you, if they are right the drawing seems to always work.

I like the stipple effect which has a defined texture and is very effective. The portrait is nicely angled capturing the proud posture, alert ears and drooling tongue of the German Shepherd. The detail is nicely captured against the white background. The lighting effect highlights the wet nose and sparkling eyes. Thanks for sharing

Yes, as a breed they are very smart and loving, when handled correctly, but that is true of most animals.

What size point do you use on your pen? This is very nice and soft. Stippling does well to capture the soft, fuzzy fur of a German Shepherd. I have a tendency to wear my pens out, so I generally use the disposable ones. Great job here.
