Beautiful winter scene, a winter wonderland. The lighting looks like it could be sunrise or sunset with the hint of orange in the sky. Nice touch with the small boat floating or sitting on the water (is it frozen?). Love the light reflections on the water along with the floating snow. I love the log cabins and the smoke from the chimney indicating the fire and warmth inside. I imagine that small bird in the sky is heading south, better late than never. :) Very well done and beautiful painting with great visual impact. ~Alveria

Thank you for your comment Alveria, I imagine that the boat was half way frozen, or maybe this was the start of winter and it was still being used, the original painting was done over a century ago, so we can only guess:))

Beautiful oil painting ,you have captured a more feel of cold by adding a deeper color to you sky. The overall painting is a beautiful one. The eye appeal is really nice and you did a great job capturing what you were trying to do. The smoke from the chimney tells you it's chilly outside. It's a really great painting.

Thank you for your review and suggestion Kathy, I added some more blue to the sky, see if it looks better, from what I remember in my childhood this would be nearly grey sky, but for the sake of art why not add some color;))

yes, I can feel the cold in the picture now , it looks a bit darker in the skies now, great job!

I have little recent experience with such frozen landscapes, so I am not sure if such light intensity, from a moon?, is possible, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt. It is a lovely landscape and the glow is such a nice effect... it adds a magical element to what otherwise would be a scene with much foreboding. Nice range of colors used and impasto seems to work well for giving more depth to image. Lovely work!

Thank you for your kind review Oliver, this is a sunrise, so the light is coming from the sun, I am sure moonlight would give very different colors, no oranges for sure:))

Delightful. Conveys the idea excellently. Sort of looks like it should be a greeting card (?). It leaves with the feeling of wishing to be there. Very nice indeed.

An impressive artwork rendition. Colorful creation with excellent strokes & textures.
A smoother skyline backdrop would have given a perspective of distance, my friend. Far from the impasto strokes of the nearby subjects...
I can feel the coldness here...
Good compositional style.
Great overall impact!
Thanks for sharing... This is another winner!
Congratulations in advance!

Thank you for the feed back, I toned down the sky some, I'll probably keep working on this for a while, just out of time for now.
Let's see if your right about the winner;))

As long as you'll smoothen out the sky a bit, I'm sure this will get the nod of the voting members!
    Good luck!

Its the impasto strokes that make it appear like a nearby wall...sorry for the descriotion but I want you to win!
