Quite the close up with plenty of detail and spot on with the eye. Amazingly strong with their beaks and go thru sunflowers like butter. All the best in the contest.

I really like these close ups of birds. It is a fine way to really study them properly. What could be more suitable for this contest than a red Cardinal ? You say in your notes that you feed the birds every day of the year. I did not think it was necessary and stop when the spring comes. This guy looks pretty healthy though and probably appreciate all the good food.
As usual your focus is spot on and I am really amazed by the clarity of the eye. It is also great details in the feathers. Your exposure is perfect and the blurred background works well. You always have such good and natural colors in your photos.
The placement within the frame and the tight cropping works well. Another lovely photo of a bird from you, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Such wonderful clarity here - I love all that detail on the beak. A pretty catch light in the eye and great focus and dof have captured all the individual feathers. I love your close cropping. A great contest entry and a contender for sure.
