Excellent use of this technique. How patient you are to do this picture in this style. I really like the horse, composition, and depth of field. Good work!

BrooklynMyra,
Maybe more then you want to know, but I want to give a little more information on the piece.
First off, Thank you for having opened and taken the time to looked at this piece of artwork & giving me your impressions of it. A piece of this size (5 x 7 inches ) depending on complexity can take anywhere from 12 to 20 hours to complete, this one took 15 hours.
It is a technique that I simply can not get enough of the way it gets me to looking and understanding colors, how they play off of one another, it is fun, challenging and amazing what the results can bring. That great 3D effect in the way the pure colors compliment and some time contrast to get that feeling of perspective and depth. And how all the dots works on creating form and structure without using any lines I find fascinating.
In closing, I especially appreciated all of you efforts and comments on this artwork. I hope you will continue to support my work in the future.
Than you again for the support, have a great day! ... Cheers!!!

I really appreciate the explanation! That is why I don't post my artwork that much. Takes so long. The photograph is a quick fix for creativity.

Wow, very good portrait of this horse which sounds to be a very complicated and difficult process. Amazing job you've done. Thanks so much for sharing.

I learned color with working with fiber, mainly yarn, putting them together, making different colors, all with weft and warp, but basically the same thing you're doing with dots. I can see how this would give one a better appreciation of subtle color changes, how they merge to make another, etc. I might even try this some day myself. Thanks for the explanation.

I remember the photo well. You are very close and realistic in detail, color and amazingly in texture [hence the wood]. You have the priceless face impression outstanding captured. It looks on my screen as if your photo does your painting not completely justice.

Very nice work!
Time consuming I am sure.. I can see the intricacy that you have used in laying down color. Nice application of shadows, and highlights. have captured the style of pointillism wonderfully. Nice soft vibrant colors.. thank you for sharing!

I taught this technique to my kids when I was teaching middle school.. and I know how much time it takes.. this of course was 30 plus years ago, when kids had more patience.. now kids want "instant" results and gratification .. I stopped teaching long time ago, because of the changes that I saw were taking place in art classes.. in public schools. You have certainly done a wonderful job. The only comment I would make would be the proportion on the nose and mouth on the horse... it needs to be less pointed at the end.. I work with horses and spend a great deal of time with them, and the one thing I love his there big soft nostrils.. as they breath on you.. and the nice squared up faces.. with wonderful soft "lips?" if you would call them that. Longer nose to jaw.
The eyes are great.. and the treatment of the main is wonderful. :)
