Wonderful painting. Love the stone wall that frames each side of the composition. The sky is wonderfully done showing the rain storm on the horizon. Far away hills are well painted. Colors used compliment each other well. Woman with the little girl adds lots of interest to the composition. Love how the girl is staying behind to stomp in the rain puddles which is so typical of children. Lovely presentation. Loved it!

The figures have achieved their objectives beatifully.
Lovely soft colours ( a Suzanne Thompson trademark!)
I love the Yorkshire Dales.
During the summer when I was a student we used to go camping there. Also love the North Yorksire moores.

Many a time have i walked through the dales on a wet day, and you have captured the scene very well with this painting, like the sky, with the bit of blue peeping through giving hope that it will stop raining, great colors and detail very well done..Brian

Another beautiful painting. Yes your composition works well to lead the eye into the picture. The cloudy skies coupled with the rain geat and the splashing reflection in the puddles all attest to your attention to details. Great depth and a sense of movement. Shirley

The figures do lead my eye into the frame as you intended and the clothing shouts rain as does the water coming off the roof. I always was intrigued by Herriot's books and then the TV series. This looks about bang on for what is depicted in both.

Thank you so much for your great comments. I'm so glad it reminds you of Herriot's country. It's one of my favourite places.

I LOVE this one! It is alive, it tells a story, I can feel the rain. It is awesome. You are a talented artist! Everything is great, the stone walls, the hills and yes. even the man in the clouds!

Thank you so much for your great review. You're very kind. I'm so pleased you like it - I just made it up so it's not from a photo this time!

I particularly like this subject matter because that is what the pacific northwest is about(rain). It shows great light and it looks like a grandma and her grandchild out running for groceries, walking back to the country side. The dark clouds are great and really provide the beginnings to a story.
