What a great catch Willie. This is your niche, your heron photos are always quite exquisite and this shot is no exception.

You have composed him into the frame with thought for him to fly into and in the meantime that horizon in the background is not only nicely blurred but straight!

Oftentimes we see herons just standing in beautiful surroundings but this image really is quite dynamic and shows off his wingspan...whew, what a lot of wing and a slight body. How precious to see this, I'm sure it made your heart soar when you recognized that you captured a great image.

Technically you are a pro when it comes to images they are always well exposed, you don't shoot in harsh shadow times and your framing and cropping is always done with thought.

This is a good image, and as always I get touched by your images for their subject matter, your creativity and panache. Thank you for showing us nature's beauty.

If I had a six to give this would have gotten it! WOW, this blows me away! I have been trying to get one even half as good for a long time. Such a beautiful bird! Love that I can see all of him from the tip of his wings to the bottom of his feet and even the water drops!
