You do not say what your ISO was and wheather you have had to use noise reduction.To say you have not used a macro lens this is a great photograph,the clarity of the face and beak is excellent.

Thank you so very much! I don't remember the ISO but probably 400-500 that is where I shoot most of the time. However I am changing back and forth depending on the light. I wanted the shallow dof here so I adjusted the setting to work with f5.6.

Its hard to find fault here.
Composition is perfect.
Focus is just the way it needs to be to make it very interesting.
Finally the reflected light in the eye adds to the interest and composition.
No suggestions for improvements here.

This is a beautiful girl, complete with orange beak and an orange tipped spike. The angle of the birds head, turned, is ideal. The shot is spot-on, centered well, balanced and clear.
