The black wouldn't impress the "Natural History" section of photographers but it works for me.It really isolates the bird without any distractions.Good detail and sharp where it needs to be sharp. Mitch

i find this to be a nice entry into the contest. I find the black backdrop only enhances the bird. Good focus, good story telling ability, and i like the framing too. Good luck.

Beautiful job catching this little lady. And yes I can see the different the flash makes. I only have the one on the camera. Will that one be strong enough? I have used flash before when I use to shoot film for daytime shots and I really did not think of it with the digital camera. But I will try it. Thanks for sharing.
