Yes, this was painted in Paint Shop Pro 9, and it is an old book (could be a bible) a pen, ink bottle, and kerosene lamp. Thank you so very much for the wonderful and compliment, Thomas! I really appreciate it :)

I like to see compositions of old, antique things. I like the parchment effect which you produced for the old book, the tattered and torn pages. I also like very much your compositional expertise. Perfect on that! I prefer the darker themes as far as backgrounds and lighting in these types of settings with emphasis on lighting and deep, mysterious shadows. You know what I mean, Shawn. Excellent work, nevertheless. It is just a matter of my own selfish preference. Your work is divine!

Hi, Mike. I originally did this for posting on another site that features mostly modernistically odd type art, so I decided to mix the old with the new. My preference is the darker style still life like you posted recently and the other one I have posted. More like the old masters did still life paintings. Remember, I told you about William Michael Harnett? He's one of my favorites. I did one of his paintings a few years back, when I first started doing oils. It's the one with several books, clarinet, candle, sheet music, pretty complicated. Check it out sometime. You should paint it. Thank you for the very kind and wonderful review!!

This is a nice piece, the colors are well done giving a mood to the work. The subject matter is interesting and really brings you in. Good composition. The feeling of texture is found in all areas of this. Wonderful work, I enjoy looking at it.

I really like the historical feel of this painting. The aged, tattered book really emphasizes it. Excellent composition.

Additional Comments: Beautiful composition and colors. Love the textural elements in the design and the story telling ability.
Suggestions: have to take off half a point for lamp not being in perspective.

Such a successful melding of the medias. You really have a touch with luminous objects. Your colors are striking together and work well in enhancing each object individually. Again in this one your signature is very, very well done and offers an ornamental element.

You are just so good at doing your digitnal art. Every time I look at one it just has a great story to tell. Composition spot on. Your gold and red blend beautiful and brings all to life. Top lighting and I love the background in this one. Just gives it a nice soft touch

Great colors, composition, creativeness, technique. Find all of the curved shapes work very well with each other with several concentric shapes all centered on the bottle.
