so right, boys will be boys the world over. I wonder what his future will be ? I great photo of a little boy being a grubby little boy blowing bubble gum. As your photos always tell a great story so does this. I look forward to seeing some more but the poverty saddens me.

Thank you so much for your kind review. I hope his feature is brighter than the presence. There were just a school build in the area for kids 6-10. Our community aid the school with the necessary paper, pencil, chalk etc. But other than their parents the learn to read and write the native Maya and Spanish. I'll post pictures later.

Nice photograph. This boy has an almost mischievous look on his face like he's about to make some trouble. Nice lighting and colors. Great job.

This certainly is a cute picture of the boy blowing bubble gum. The initial impact is strong, and the center of interest is not only cutel, but provides great story telling ability. I like the clear detail in both the boy and the background.

I like this, the background shows that its not a good living area, and the boys ragged clothing is dirty, good setup and everything. enjoyed viewing 5 stars

Thank you for your generous review. You are right with the living area. What you see there is an typical Mayan village in Yucatan's Jungle. There is know electrical power or sanitation. The water comes from a cenote [sink hole] but it's clean. The village is about 10 Miles from a major highway and about 20 Miles from a beach property All Inclusive hotel were tourists pay $ US 200 to 500.

Sorry, but I'm not moved by this as being cute. It's a fine documentary for sure, although I can't even tell that it's really gum he has there.

Artistically, not very special. It's a snapshot. I understand the story but the photo in an of itself is less than remarkable. At least he's not "centered" in the frame. And, it's well exposed and sharp. Otherwise, nothing really stands out for me. I guess you can call me Simon Cowell (American Idol) for being real about my critique here.

Sorry but I don't agree. One has probaly to live were I do [Q.Roo,Mexico] and grown up as and were I did [East-Berlin, Germany after WWII, later DDR behind the Iron Curtain] to find it cute. I still do. The expression in it's face showing how he is 'ignoring' my camera. I know it is bubble gum. I gave it to him.
That he is not centered in the frame is intentional. You will very seldom find my subjects in the middle of the frame. I dislike it.
I understand that you dislike the photo since you just don't see what I see. If somebody tells me my photo is well exposed and sharp I know My story didn't came over. I won't hold it against you.

No problem...just to set the record straight. I wasn't asking you to agree with a subjective judgement. I don't like it. How can you disagree with that? And, I wasn't saying to center him. That was a good remark..."at least" the boy is NOT centered. Anyways, good luck in the contest.

Maybe I understand something wrong. Sometimes I do. Sometimes my English is a bit skewed. I never learned any but by myself.
What I meand I disagree that he isn't cute.
But anyway I really appreciate any honest review. Thanks again.
