Nice picture, very appropriate for children book; very often the green color is used for strange things, fairy tales or...the extraterestrial beings; your image looks like a traditional painting, I like the brushstrokes used for the sky and for the creature, especially the eyes are very expressive.

No I would not I would not trust this guy one bit, he looks a little scary.
Love how you have created him and all the whisps of colour in the background.
There is a lovely sense of movement with this piece, kinda looks like a dream world. Cute little addition of the caterpillar. An overall great bit of artwork with great story telling possibilities

I admire your ability to come up with a story line and then set out to achieve the visual companion for your words. I feel that as an entry for the green contest your piece achieves the goal of using many different hues of green. I think that there are areas for improvement in your piece, they are minor but would have a huge impact on how the outcome would be perceived...Your background is a glorious combination of green hues and it is both moody and dreamy -your technique for blending them has been executed well...I think that if you were to put sharper edges, highlights and brighter colours on your tree branch as well as the "green man" himself that this would give your illustration some much need depth. Right now the piece is all on the same plane except for the caterpillar -because it is sharp and bright it seems the closest to the viewer which conflicts with the branch it is sitting on. Your composition is well put together, interesting and would look nice beside text of a children's story -like you describe in your notes. Your technique with painting digitally is well on it's way and I am sure you have the talent to pursue detailing this piece further. I thank you for sharing your piece with us and wish you all the luck in the contest under way. Crystal

Thank you very much Crystal, Your review is the far best and helpful so far in spite of having the lowest rating. We don't get very often through reviews as yours. Your review is really refreshing. You are right in what you say. I was work blind [maybe from looking to long at the screen] This comes when one is working on small areas without seeing the whole picture what is much to small on the laptop screen. I should have printed it out. were you pointed it out I see it: The caterpillar seems indeed closer than the branch. Funny since I have painted it on the same layer but I haven't the shading right there. The caterpillar and the branch are supposed to be on the same level but in front of the wizard. The same is happen with the wizard. The shading is not right. Somehow I made a mistake when I merged the layers. I have to get back to the separation and work more on the shading. There is not enough of perspective in the picture or Deep of Field as it's called now. {By the way the picture was not made for the contest. It just happened that the contest came along to the right time wile I was working on my children story.]

I am so glad you found my review helpful, often times it is so hard to point out what you see as maybe needing improvement without hurting peoples feelings-which was of course never my intention when I wrote this review! I do admire your creativity and think that you have a fine bit of talent- keep up the great work! ...and thank you for being kind in your reply-Crystal

You were kind in your review. Really i better receive a low raiting and a competent review as a high rating and some bla-bla from what I can't learn anything. :-)

Thank you very much for your encouraging review. Interesting that you were drawn to the caterpillar. He is a important little hero in the story and will change to a beautiful butterfly.

Where have you read the book? How is it called? I want to read it. The creature was until now a poor product of my imagination. I'm in the process of writing and illustrating a children story were he is part of. What a coincidence that a creature as mine already exists. Please can you tell me what is the name of the story and where it was published?
-
Yes it was by Lewis Carol And you mentiond down the rabbit hole "The Adventures Of Alice In Wonderland"
-
I have read Alice in Wonderland truth not in English but I never meet my green creature there.
The rabbit whole was just as metaphor because it is so well known. My hero's will have another entrance and a different magic land. Thank you again.

Very nice storytelling in this image as you wonder what the caterpillar is thinking when looking at the subject. The blurred background is good and the colors very nice.
