This is a gorgeous photo; it is simple, elegant and calming. Despite all that there is still the element of action in less than a moment this wave is going to crash and spill all over the beach. I love that tension. The timing for this photo is excellent.
Things to note: The horizon crosses above the middle of the photo. This is important in that it is subconsciously uncomfortable for there to be a division along the middle of a work of art (whether that division be horizontal or vertical). Doing so causes the eye to look at EITHER one side or the other, and not at the piece as a whole. Because the horizon line is higher it causes you the focus to be below that, which is where the action happens here.
The colors are obvious and beautiful. This picture could land itself on a postcard or book cover or in a magazine. It could be an advertisement photo for the location. Or it could be framed and placed above the mantle. I love it. I'm a fan. "Tidal Wave" is a beautiful moment captured on film and worthy of hanging beside the likes of John Steele or Jeff Divine (surf photographers).

I find the formation here very interesting (I have not been near an ocean more than once in my life). I expected the shutter to be open a lot longer than it was to get water looking like this but perhaps this is a phenomenon that I will see one day in travel. Very nice composition with the coast line leading the eye. Nice colour and detail. Well done.

Thank you very much for your toughtfull review. The shutter speed for a shot as this can't be any longer. It is basically a stop in action shot. A wave turns over to fast. A decrease of shuteer speed wold show more flow, a merge of time actually. It would be almost the past, present and future at once. The wave before, wile and after turning. There are some entrees in this contest with a slow speed. If you look at Cramont View, Duck Park or Smooth Flow you will see the difference.

Good impact. Very nice detail, I notice the sand being washed ashore in the wave. Good texture in the wave and the shore. Good color balance and harmony, Good lighting. Nice technique. TY

Nicely and thoughtfully composed and great exposure. Nice line/angle coming from the corner to add interest. Horizon is reasonably straight. Nice work.

This looks great I love the angle you have shot this at showing the wave coming in and the lovely seascape behind You have done a nice job of keeping the horizon perfectly straight as well

Thank you very much. The beach goes on for about three miles, but it is only so nice and sandy with low tide.
