I really like this ... you've really managed to capture the movement I almost want to step back to avoid getting wet. I'm not sure if you'd cropped into it at all, but wonder if there was a little extra left at the bottom just to allow the wave to finish fully? Just my own prefence .. :)

No there wasn't any more room. This picture is already made from four different shots with a little painting to merge the waves. These waves crashing to shore. The have no chance to finish because the are cut in the current. Current and incoming waves crashing into each other causing turmoil.

This is awesome the way you have done it. The way you caught the wave is fantastic. I like the way the foam looks. The sepia color is beautiful on this. An excellent and beautiful picture. Good luck in the contest.

Very different point of view on this one. I also like the color treatment. 4 photos? How did you do that? I looks seamless. Nice job!

Thank you very much. I took more than four photos to work with, about 20 or so with fast shutter in short time. Some of the photos show the sky with just a little bit of ocean, the others show the ocean with a bit of sky. Of course I changed my position with each photo turning left to right. I seklected the pictures feeding best to each other and made the light and color adjustments. After that I stitched the sky together like panorama, than the waves. The waves were more complicated than the sky because of the tumult in the water and the fast movement. I had to try several combos on it. now I had to somewhat panorama pictures, the sky and the ocean. I stitched them together overlapping at the horizon. I cropped the picture, concerted to sepia and accentuated it. I hope that explain s the line of work, If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Very well done. What software did you use? I'm just getting started in the digital revolution. I'd really like to find software that's user friendly yet versatile. I love to play with coloring photos in some bizarr ways at times.

I used Digital Image Suite 2006, a program what is sadly not available anymore. Most people use Photoshop, but I dislike it. I believe beside being expensive it is an very overload program and hard to work for a beginner. To chose a program accounts very much on what you want to do with it. For making color or other changes in photos, You may check out photo explosion. I like it and think it is user friendly. It is available on line for download. There is even a free download with limited features you could try out. There are a lot of other programs out. You may google for Digital Photo Editing and Digital Imaging and look what shows up and whose features you like best.
There are various Sky Stich and Panorama programs on line, but I am still on the look out for a good program what combines the two. It is a bit complicated to work just with one doing mixed medias like mine. For example to do sky stitches with panorama you have to turn the pictures 90 deGrees.

a great picture for sure. i'm loving everything in this image. firstly the sepia tones, colour, is highly unusual but gives this seascape a vital twist. the angle also is brilliant as you get such an awesome perspective and view. this is what a crab must sense when a wave washes over. the sea is a bubbling mass, with the contrasting and delicate cloud formation.

Thank you very much. I think you are right. A bubbling mass from the crabs point of view, exept I felt as if I was the crab. The camera and I were very close to getting wet.

I like this a lot..the inherent movement in both clouds and wave is wonderfully caught..has a feel of motion even as I view it..love those bubbles! Using sepia toning, has made this (at least for me) have a timeless feel..I could be viewing it at the dawn of time, or raise my eyes and see a cruise ship..that adds a nice feel to the shot..the possibilities. You are right, timeless. A glimpse into eternity perhaps. I am happy this feel comes over. I feel always a bit touched by eternity when I look at the beauty and power of ocean and sky.
Thank you very much for your understanding review and the beautiful poetic description of the possibilities.

This is really beautiful! So much depth and drama to the sky and water. Love the sepia and wasn't sure that I would --but it adds a lot to the image. Great quote :) Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you very much for your review and your kind wishes. I chose sepia because of the difficulty of the light adjustments by combining the four photos. It was a dark morning; but with fast changing light do to the movement of waves and clouds.

Well by golly, you get my prize rating for this one. It is just an amazing, amazing piece of work. I truly admire folks who have the talent to bring several photos together, then come up with such an awe inspiring result. The sepia is fantastic, and fits the scene perfectly. Lynnie about croaked when I showed this to her. Hope all is well down there. Have yourself a great evening, and thank you so much for sharing this with all of us.

An excellent choice to convert the image to sepia. This gives the image a very dramatic effect. You captured beautifully shaped clouds with very good texture in them. The water has very nice motion from the foreground to the horizon. I love the frothiness of the water in the foreground. It makes one feel the movement in that water, especially with all the water drops you captured in the air. Those waves have fantastic texture in them. The four photographs that you used must have been taken with the right shutter speeds, f/stops and DOF's. In all four the densities, saturations and and contrasts are perfect. The stitching of the four photographs are seamless, very well done. An excellent concept.
Take care,
Cheers,
Bill

Beautiful image Cleo. I love the vast depth in the image combined with close intimacy of the wave. Very effective. Has a sort sense of endlessness about it.

You know, what I do is copy all originals 3 times and of those three one is kept off site in another location. I will keep good thoughts in my meditations for you Cleo. Bren

I copy only twice. On one of the externals the folders are organized by date, on the other by themata. Can't put them on to many different locations. They have to be in dehumidified enviroment. The havy humidity and especial the high salt content of the air is deadly to them. but even with the best provention, it's the tropics here, we are in hurricane ally. Even if the hurricans won't hit there could be a breack in the watermain near your house like this time.
Thanks for the good toughts and meditations. I will do the same. ~Cleo
