I always have something to say, be it positive or negative, however, this is just my opinion. I really love the picture. But when I saw the water the horse was drinking out of, there was no depth of field. It looks like the puddle is standing straight up.

I have been to South Dakota and the Badlands. This is what it would look like back in the 1800's and so. i don't think my background would include Native Americans. Unless they had some in Poland and Sweden.

Fantastic details and shading. Just amazing as usual.
I loved watching Westerns and expecially when the Indians were in it, although the scalping I hated, so thanks for the interesting notes, I was not aware of why they did that :-)

Beautifully rendered with dignity for both the land and the people. The simplicity of the scene really says a lot about the synergy between the people, the land, the animals, and environment. As usual the detail you achieve with your medium continues to amaze me. Very well done.

Overall a nice cosmopolitan, the color's for the most part works well as color harmony to me.
I say the, work well, because the red leggings seem too red. They would have been better if they had been buckskin in color instead. Would have stayed better within the earth tone color scheme.

The only thing to me that seem out of proportion are the large feathers on the bridle.

I do think the mixed techniques between line strokes and stipple help create a very good visual diversity and interest to the drawing.

His face look a little off, by the way the rest is drawn. To me the face should have been more in profile, or turned looking at the audience.

i was trying to go for the tired and disgusted look..u know staring off into space while the horse is getting water..im sure they had boring moments back then but i have to agree about the legging..i was tring to make it stand out and not blen in with all the other brown around it..that was the only reason i didnt go for buckskin..i also recall from history red was a common color among the indians...but u have brought some great points for future reference..thanks again for the good review penmaster..wink

First off...I really appreciate your artist notes. History does have a way of sometimes just accepting basic assumptions. You give us reason here, to perhaps debunk some of them. Anyway, really like your artwork here. Quirky and colorful.
