overall, a very nice effort with this owl portrait. I really like the detailed strokes and the intermingling of the color in the face and body. I would like to see a less contrasty color used for the background, as I feel the blue/green adds a bit of unreality, but still, the bird itself, is very well done.

You did a wonderful job with this owl. love the colors, love the detail, and love the story behind it. I think i need one of those owls eggs at times hahaha... To me the most appealing thing is the Owls eyes they show a soul.

Overall I like your painting very much, but especially the feather on the chest. Her head though looks a bit flat to me, the eyes and the beak need a bit more shading like you did on the chest to bring the needed depth.
But like I said, I do like the painting and wish you good luck for the contest
