Oh Cleo what a touching and sad story behind the eyes of this beautiful woman! A stunning depiction of the eyes observing you. The art work is amazing and the details remind me of the old Renaissance work. Lovely vibrant colors and a beautifully rendered painting!

If you painted this with oils i believe the wrong category was clicked, and should have been traditional. Hope that helps. The piece is gorgeous and i love the detail very much.

Thank you very much for your kind review and your input. The category is right. It is painted digitally. My program ArtRage is very similar to traditional painting. It is done brush Stroke by brush stroke, just that the brushes are moved with my fingers on a pad. I chose basic [digital-] canvas, [digital-] oil brushes in different sizes and the [digital-] palette knife for this painting. The painting is manly done with the knife after applying the color.

This is a beautiful portrait. Lovely expression captured, she is a beautiful woman and looks very caring and the type of woman who everyone would want to be friends with.

Lovely colours come through and I really like the technique you have used with the brush strokes. An inspiration piece of art, I would give this more stars if I could

Thank you very much for your encouraging review and your wishes.
I use ArtRage an relative inexpensive but effective program for those who have experiences in traditional painting. If you like more information on it feel free to ask.

What art Artisans?

This image reminds me in style of one of the impressionist painters that painted some images in Japan. The vibrant usage of light and color, nice portrait, simple backgrounds and a lot of life.

I also get the impression of a style obtained with a pallet knife, lack of fine detail but with excellent implied detail. Great visual appeal. Well done.

Thank you very much. You did see exactly what I had in mine to show. You are right I used manly the knife on this painting to obtain an impressionist style.
Artisans down here a things located somewhere between Arts and Crafts, often things made by self thought people without formal education and/or degree as folk art paintings [native art] native carvings in wood, needlework, waving and embroidery, hand made jewelry made from minder materials as seashell and semiprecious stones often wired with gold padded gauche or sterling silver. In her case she sold the famous Mayan needlework and wood carvings of her husband. I had chosen

I sometimes hesitate to review painted art postings because I lack the talent (although I recently decided since I have always wanted to try watercolors I will while I can still hold a brush without too much shake, and try and cultivate more artistic talent in myself). But every so often I come across art that reaches out to me and compels me to comment. This picture has draw appeal I could not resist. Whether it was the colors, your subjects calm, becoming expression, her pose or ?? I don't know. But the pull is real; my eyes keep roving over her facial features and expression (the slight rise in her eyebrow adds an air of knowing, a connection) hair, dress, jewelry, and then back to her face again. Her eyes have a gentle wisdom to them; she is not shy put not too forthright either. Your lighting and gentle use of shadows is exceedingly becoming to your subject. (I have no idea why an artist would use black canvas over white since paint is applied anyway, but wonder if it is because it provides increased depth to certain colors?) A very nice portrait; thank you for sharing. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much. First I am sorry for the confusion, the picture is not painted on black canvas but on BLANK canvas. Blank canvas is a therm used in 2D-digital painting, a painting similar to traditional painting. I chose white white basic canvas for this painting, Oil colors and brushes and the palette knife. I used mainly the knife. The main difference between traditional painting and and my kind of digital painting is that the tools are moved with my fingers on a pad and that it is possible to work in layers. It is a convenient way to paint in areas were it is hard to obtain traditional materials and has the nice side effect that no paint get splattered. If you like more information, feel free to ask.
Thank you again for your thought review and your wishes. I appreciate both.

This stuns me. I did read your notes (must have read "black" insted of "blank" :) and was sure what I was viewing was handpainted using traditional brushes and canvas. If that increases the compliment paid, I'm glad. Because I am very impressed to learn that you did this digitally, on he compuer. Truly lovely! Thank you very much for correcting my misconception.

Thank you very much. Yes it incrises the compliment :-)
To do that on the computer needs experiemnces in traditional painting, lots of digital praxis and lots of time. Thank you again very much.
