Thank you very much for your kind review :-)
What is over Luis Amstrongs face is a filter over a painting which I had drawn using a photo as reference. I do not understand what you mean is overexposed. There is no original photo in this collage which could be overexposed. Do you mean the two silver-white musicians in the upper corners? Those are negative versions of a photo, which was treated with a couple emboss filters, a couple film grain filters and a paintbrush.

Very awesome representation of the 20s. You really captured the soul of the era! I love the color choices (black and white with blues added for interest). The images in negative adds a lot too, brightening things up. I really love this.

Yes, a very nice rendition of the 1920s. All those great people are so well pictured. Really admirable technique. High impact. I find it a bit dark around Charely Chaplin.
Nice job though.

Thank you very much!!! I have a look at Charlie. I put extra film grain on him; because he is at the center and the most known of them, but also still silent movie. Earlier than all the others. ~Cleo

Wonderful! Good initial impact and presentation.
Imaginative and creative work.
I love how you have Charlie in the spotlight in the middle! The other artists surrounding all in different poses makes this an interesting image. Seems like you put a lot of effort to create this image. Your notes were of interest. Good luck in the contest!

I like this image a great deal. Having read your notes I now know what Les Annees folles means which is something I have learned today. The Art Deco period is my favourite period so the images here appeal to me. I like the way you have used black and white with tones in between to emphasize the characters.

Thank you, I appreciate your review. What do you not like on the picture?
reply by susanlen on 05-Sep-2012
Felt that I really had to look very hard to see all the detail. I loved the tones but perhaps a little lightening of the image would have brought all the detail out.

Oh, but that is conceptional. I worked hard to obscure details, otherwise I would have used original photos. I did not wand the personalities of the actors taking over, but a Metaphor of their time. A dark time [black background] with some rhinestone glamour on top, but no money for most. A time which nevertheless produced the most revolutionary works of art and the most talented and impressive artists.

I always love it when we review the Roaring Twenties in history class. So much life was going on back then, especially before the Depression hit. Too bad that all good things have to come to an end. This is a great collage that you have made here though my friend! I really do hope that it does well in the contest c:
