Comment from Lucien van Oosten

What drew me to the image was the fish, their form their coloration and especially the textures created in them, that aspect for me is very appealing visually.

I do think however, that the negative space is really overpowering in how it is competing for my attention. That area, along the bottom half of the composition, if it was toned down just a little the fish would stand out even more and then truly become the image. For me by the way the fish create a really nice circular feel by how they are positioned, that aspect draws my eye into that complicated background and take my attention away from what got me to look in the first place.

Still When I visually concentrate onto two fish, I am enthralled by their structure and form.
So for me it is a strong 5 but not a 6.

My goodness, Lucien, where did you find these guys? I posted this way back in February. Thanks a million for taking the time to comment on it, and it's probably the cheapest bit of fabulous instructions I've ever received on FAR, except for the two free reviews we are allowed. LOL. Since I painted this I have bought a new PC and no longer have the filters I used for it, so editing would be rather complex, unless I do a light overlay to tone down the background. Thank you so much for the comments. Talked to Russ a week or so ago via email. He's doing fine with his art shop and says to say "Hey" to everyone. :)shawn

Totally enjoyed visiting your gallery. This is a remarkable presentation, and the background is just extraordinary. So much detail and color. The fish are really something in their colors and shapes. It is quite a significant image.

To create an art so awesome with a large variety of transparent and luminous colours is praiseworthy.Great design of the fishes with exceptional background.Good initial impact.Real treat to watch the intricate details in its design and colour variations.Good job.

Thank you ever so much, Oliver! And thank you for the extra special rating. I haven't been in here for quite a while... where did you happen to see this? So kind of you to review without it being promoted. I really appreciate it. :)MW

As a new member of the group I am beginning to learn from fellow members many things each day.I must have accidentally browsed I can't remember. But I enjoyed your art work very much and this art is mind boggling attractive. All the best for many more to come

Colorful indeed, of a very pleasing colorfulness which is cheerful and light, but not neon splashy. It has the hazy feel of being under water, but just a few feet in the sun lighted high reef. The fish does not that strange to me, but like some kind of moray of some unusual color.

The fractal background is gorgeous and your two main fish are well painted. Love the vibrant colors and sense of motion in the piece. Very good interest for the viewer. I enjoyed this one very much.
Beautiful work.

Julie, how have you been, dear girl? Thank you ever so much for the beautiful review and stars! Sorry, I didn't have it promoted yet for you. Had to get some work related things done first. Again, thank you!! Hope all is well with you.
I still haven't figured out how anyone gets things cut out of photos in a half decent manner. A few months back, I purchased about 70 photos that I'll probably never use until I get up the patients to learn how to cut what I want from them. There's got to be an easier way than what I'm trying!! You, avmurray, and a few others make it look so easy. :)shawn

In photoshop I just use the quick selection tool, then edit & copy and paste into whatever picture I'm using it in. It will appear in another layer. Then I use the tool to enlarge that layer of the picture and usually use the smooth tool to smooth out the edges around where it's been pasted in. I'm doing ok. Had some more medical issues this summer so haven't done much lately except for photography. Just bought a set of oil pastels that I'm working on some pictures with & hope to post soon. Have a great weekend. Great to hear from you.

Wonderful magical seascape with brilliant colors bouncing right out at me. By computer generated, is this a fractal? Double pat on the back if it is. Love this. Good job.

Hi, Click. Thank you ever so much for the comments and fabulous galaxy of stars. I sincerely appreciate it. The background is 4 layers of fractals (not from a fractal program, but from a plugin/filter)in different layer modes. Again, thank you so much. :)shawn
