Congratulations Gracie Lu!!
You have a superb close up of this Male{Tom} Turkey. He is definitely in breeding season with his long snood hanging down over his bill and his deep red engorged with blood Major Caruncles.
The females are attracted to the Male with the longest Snood.
EXCELLENT crisp details, textures and fine true colors.

Thank you! Females are all the same aren't they? Just kidding! I think these guys have the coolest looking feathers. The brown ones make me think of wood chips and I think the dark markings are so rich and attractive.

When I first moved here I didn't even realize the weird birds I was seeing around were Turkeys...lol and they were not even as 'pretty' as your guy is.

You should see the full feathers of these guys. I think they are beautiful. I might have to post a full body shot some time, with them showing off their tail feathers for the females.

Ahhh no way no how...he is handsome and well presented with showing off his colours in his neck...and folds too. No way he is ugly.
The portrait style of presentation further gives him a noble look. You have not over saturated but have the colours as they appear in nature. It is sharp and easily seen with the background complimenting the bird.

A fantastic entry to the competition, until this came about I had never really taken a look at a Turkey in any detail, and I'm glad that they don't realise or need to care about how they look - as they are so weird!! This thing looks like something out of a science fiction movie, an alien that has a short scene in some dispute in a bar or is a vagabond or criminal of some kind on another planet. I wouldn't have even guessed what this is if I hadn't read the description!! lol. They have fantastic detail however which you have captured up close with great clarity and DOF, and in good lighting too, showing the strange layout and structure of the brown feathers, in various different colour tones depending on which part of the body it is on, and then this bizarre head, face, and neck, not to mention the long nose like thing covering the beak. The bright red colouring of the rippled neck slowly recedes to lighter red and blue patterning, again that could easily be from another planet, to the blue face and white top if it's head - truly remarkable, and very freaky haha. Best of luck in the contest, a strong contender no doubt!! :)

I like this Tom turkey. It's fun to see the color change on the wobble. I think that is what it's called. The face changes color as well. This is well framed and I love the expression of the turkey. His feathers are beautiful with the black outline. Good job.
