Hi Willie, this is a beautiful , calm and peaceful capture, the sandpiper catches a nap on the piece of wood on the very calm water, I love the reflection ! This is of course, well focused, the image is clear, exposure is well managed, the colors and tones are natural, nice detail in this sandpiper! Well composed and presented! I think this is a beautiful entry into this contest Willie, and you have captured the great looking reflection in the most excellent way. I also like the way the bird is posing, how lovely the light is falling on it, and the fine textures you have brought out in the wooden log.
Your focus is spot on and sharp showing such clear and well defined details both in the log and the bird, and both the exposure and white balance is perfect.
The format you have cropped the photo into works so well, and the bird has got a fine placement off to the left. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.
