It is indeed the reflections in the water doing this photo more than anything. It almost looks like somebody has spread gold dust on it. You have also captured the Cormorant well, and it is standing out so well from the water With the blue color of the eye matching the color of the lake.
The photo is Sharp showing really Clear and well defined details in the bird, and the exposure is very good.
Cropping to panorama is Perfect, and the bird has got a fine placement off to the left. A very special and well taken photo, and With an excellent DOF.

You do have to be sneaky sometimes. Good job!! The blue of the sky in the water adds interest to the picture. When I look at the small photo, it reminds me of some of the photos of the Loch Ness Monster.

Cormorants are renown for not co-operating when you want to photograph them but you have managed to get this one with sharp focus on the eye and a good pose before diving for food. Like the blue color reflections.

A beautiful capture, love the abstract feel that you have captured with the blue and gold patterns in the water,I see that some of the blue is reflected in the cormorant's back feathers. Excellent focus and framing, the cormorant has room to swim into, and you have captured a nice distorted reflection.A very artistic photograph, just stunning!

I like how the colors in the water go so well together: the muddy oranges combined with the blues; they collide together to create this almost abstract element in the water. The bird looks great in the photo, and this photo is just very aesthetically pleasing, not only because of the bird in the water, but because of the colors in the water. It's a simple photo with great-looking elements in it.

This is a very interesting shot with the blue of the sky and the reflection of the yellow autumn tree creating such a nice pattern and flow in this image
your cormorant is well place , clear and sharp and adapts perfect to the water flow
a very harmonious composition with a good initial impression , well seen, and well done, while I can imagine how you are hiding to catch him loll

I love the colors on the water, the cormorant swims with its head up high, such a pretty sight! Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is managed well, colors and tones appear natural. I like the clear face and eye! Well composed with a nice placement of the bird in frame, well presented!

Nice background. Me too I love that water. People here hate these birds as they say they are killing our Pickerel population as they eat lots of them. There is an island where they are so over populated that everything is dying on it because of the poop they leave behind. They are a nasty bird when there is lots of them.. Nice shot

They are quite reclusive here in Michigan too. I rarely have been able to get a closeup like this beauty. I like the detail in the face and great colors on the water.

Fred,
A Beautiful & colourful picture of this inland Cormorant swimming in your local lake with the clear blue sky & the trees on the banks reflected on the rippled surface giving ares of blue & other areas of brow with a hint of green. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
