Different approach for a flower shot;[which i like] but do slightly feel for this to have worked better charlotte i think the color of the petals should have been more prominent al over in this, but it is good to try a different approach...Brian

A well-composed photo with back lit purple flowers giving it a dramatic effect. A creative port. The flowers have a clear focal point, and in aesthetically pleasing way. Good luck!

This is a lovely scene. The flowers are really nice with so much light and dark in areas; however, some areas would be even prettier if there was more color to contrast, such as the left flower, and especially the lower right flower which almost seems to droop. But it is lovely. The large stems/stalks are so nice, the plant hairs can be slightly seen.

Thanks Glena, yeah I know what you mean, but hey it is what it is, the balancing of the lights and darks was pretty tricky and I admit the lower ones didn?t get quite the same attention. :)

Welcome. I know what you mean, artist friend. But you merged the darkness and the plant so well together in your fine photography.

I don't know what type of flower this is but do know it is popular in mixed arrangements. Your shot is interesting and totally different, unique! I like the starkly outlined details from the backlighting and how well the flowers stand off from the dark background. Best wishes for the contest!

A good looking entry into the composition posted here! Colours, textures and tones are good. Like the petals. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

Charlotte I don't know ANYTHING about flowers So I can't offer even a vague guess as to what this specimen night be called BUT I can tell you that I think your beautifully presented photo of it is Outstanding!
The image has a tone of Dark Surrealism vibrating gently from it and that impresses me greatly!
'Good Show',my friend!

Certainly fits the name. Presented in a unique and creative way. The black background helps the flowers to stand out. Cool shot, thanks for sharing.

I am sorry I cannot identify the blooms pictured in this very creative application of ambient light Charlotte.

The use of the black background lends a very dramatic flare to this composition, as well as a lot of high contrast - excellent.

Your camera settings are well established and have produced a high resolution image of good contrast, color and tonal range.

I like how the back light gives the stems a surreal look... Bob

Thanks Bob! They were still growing so I found myself lying flat on rather wet ground - what we do to get our shots eh!
