This is an exceptional traditional art piece Linda. You of all people know about loss. How wonderful it is to comfort your friend with their loss of a son. He has such a lovely face, the eyes are outstanding and full of feeling. The light and shading and every detail is wonderfully rendered. I am sure your friend will treasure this forever!

Those eyes cut right through my heart before I even read the description.
I can't stop crying, this piece is so powerful. The eloquent use of pencil is most definitely prize worthy.

This is outstanding pencil work. You have certainly captured sadness and despair in those eyes, facial expressions. The hair is well done as are the nose and lips. The background is good and the right shoulder ok. Sorry about this friend's loss. It is almost as if you captured the feeling of the mother through the boy's expressions.

Linda, this is so sad and so beautiful, what a wonderful friend you must be.
To lose a child is the worst loss any parent could suffer, it's always been my greatest dread. Nothing will ever ease the pain completely, but to have kind and caring friends like you, is a huge bonus. I'm so pleased you are there for her.
Your drawing is absolutely beautiful, so very well rendered in every detail. I particularly like how you've captured the highlights in his hair, and those heartbreaking sad eyes.
I wish I had a six for you, it certainly deserves that and more.

Hi, I'm not sure why they're showing the picture twice, here, but it definitely is a beautiful Drawing! It looks like a photograph! Very well done! I'm sorry for your friend who lost her son. That must be one of the hardest things. You really picked up a lot of emotion in this rendition of his image. He looks really sad.

Linda, this is a wonderful rendering of Alex. I am sure his mother will be reminded of her son and all the good times they had together and help her carry on through her life. Very nicely done. Ray

This is a gift to your friend that truly goes beyond words.
Exquisitely rendered, it conveys a haunting image of a young man perhaps still in his teens.
What is so incredibly moving about this image is that the moment I saw it, I felt the 'lostness'.
Unfortunately, I don't have six stars to give but I felt moved to respond; this is well beyond that anyway. I just wanted to convey how totally awesome I found this portrait to be.
I'm sure that this drawing will nurture your friend in innumerable ways.
Best wishes, Easton Bay
