Such a beautiful portrait of a beautiful lady! This image tells a story of love and devotion which is fully on display here.
The composition is lovely. I especially like the tilt of her head. The image is crystal clear.
I am certain that she and most assuredly her son were as delighted with this image as I am.

If I cold give this 10 stars I would. What a classic portrait pose of this lady. It is so expressive, her eyes are amazing. You have masterfully blended her garb into the background.
So well done and worthy of a first place finish in the contest!

This captivating portrait of an elderly woman is a testament to the profound feelings for the family that comes with age. You have skillfully shot and presented the love etched in her weathered features, telling a lifetime of stories through her eyes. Great looking shot. Good luck!

Charlotte,
A beautiful portrait of this Iraqi lady with her eyes filled with love on her son standing behind you with the light sparkling in them while highlighting her features & her hijab. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Congratulations on your second-place win. Oh, Charlotte, this is simply stunning, the way you captured this attractive older woman's very feelings in her face. I really enjoyed the sad but informative commentary also.

Thank you so much Glena!! I did take it a while ago, but it?s always remained one of my favourite photos. I felt it was important to give the backstory to explain the importance of her expression.

Stunning portrait of the lady with so much sadness in her history however she has so much love in her eyes.
Skin tones are perfect and the moment captured will be an everlasting image which will be cherished.

    Thank you Mary.
How are things with you? Any improvements?

Thanks Charlotte going into our 6th week in hospital slight improvement back on ward instead of ICU. Our son and family head to Japan for 2-3 years on Wednesday so it is a difficult time for them leaving.

Oh I'm so pleased there is some improvement at least. But what terrible timing for your son, he must be gutted to have to leave now. Still sending you positive thoughts, Charlotte

Thanks so much, yes bad timing they came home after Fukashima earthquake but he got offered a great job opportunity while on holiday visiting inlaws a few months ago.
