Looks like you'd have to be careful not to fall into the water on that slippy walkway! All your adjustments to compensate for the conditions worked very well, as did the black and white conversion. Great composition with my eye drawn right into the photo to the horizon. An interesting shot.

What a fascinating black and white image. I love the contrast with the ice and the wood of the jetty.
(I would have cut the sky in half to really bring out the icy jetty and maybe the bottom of the jetty)
However quite an impactful visual image!

A frigid welcome to the new year!
This fine image leads you off in a direction you don't want to take. A well-composed, crisp image with a great tutorial.

Black and white photography can be incredibly powerful, and this photograph is no exception. The contrast between the dark blacks and bright whites creates a striking image that draws the eye in. A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine and full composition shows us that there was a high tide there back then. No wonder people left the pier. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!

They all went home to enjoy the warmth and comfort of their houses - only photographers stay out on such cold and damp days!! Lol
I love reading your notes Bob, they're so instructive, I've never used the B&W setting on my camera, I've always presumed I can just convert it when I get home - but now I know better! Thank you.
I always love images of jetties, but they need to be taken at just the right angle, exactly in the middle, just as you have done, it leads the eye straight out into the scene.
great shot!
Charlotte

    Hi Charlotte.. Thanks for the great review and all the stars - Gracias. If you decide to try camera B&W out be sure to find a way to not forget to return the camera to color... Bob

an interesting capture with an excellent depth of field; as already indicated, it would be much better with less of the grey non-interesting sky;

Hi Bob can see your point of view on post processing but saying that i think this would work better by cropping out a lot of the sky,it would i feel make more of this jetty,which i think is good and like how it gets smaller towards the end,and b/w was the right choice...Brian

    Hi Sean.. Yeah the tipping point isn't far off when this planet is going to change abruptly and not for the better. When its too obvious and too late the climate change deniers will all stand and cry out, "Why did you let this happen?". "Hang-on, It's going to be a bumpy ride!"

    Thanks for the words and the stars... Bob
