Blossom & Bombus

I had to smile when you described how to get a sharp shot of a bumble bee, and you are probably right. You have pictured both the insect and the lovely cosmos flowers really well, and they are standing out from the softened background in an excellent way.

The photo is indeed sharp and it is clear and well defined details to be seen both in the bumble bee and the flower. The colors look nice and natural, and the exposure is perfect.

The format and framing work well, and the flowers and the bee are well placed within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken photo Bob, and with an excellent DOF.

Oh your eloquent notes actually made me feel really sad! The inevitable circle of life and death. The photograph therefore tells a complete story. You did capture it well with excellent clear detail and the two former blooms in various stages of decay add to the story too. Sniff.

This is a lovely composition with the bee seen so clearly and the lovely flower with the middle yellow, and purple and lavender petals along with the greens well arranged. Thanks for sharing this well-done photography with an outstanding title.

Most welcome, Bob. A simpler setting, but you made it beautiful.

Thanks for the interesting backstory to this great photo. I agree that Mother Nature is a most powerful equalizing force even though it may be difficult to witness at times.
The flower is beautiful with its delicate pink edging and colorful center. I also appreciate the other flowers in the background; they tell a story of time passing.
The image has impressive crispness (the bee's wings!) and is well-composed.

Bob,
A beautiful picture of the Bumble Bee that I think might be a Bombus fraternus. If it has no pollen baskets on it's back legs it's a male/drone who do not collect pollen & die off in Autumn. The flower is beautiful & makes a beautiful backdrop for the Bumblebee The two seed heads are also beautiful as they all stand out from the blurred green background. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Hi Susan.. I took this shot at around 9 am and it was still heavy overcast and 5.5 C. Poor thing never had a chance. Thank you for reviewing this capture and I appreciate your generous rating ... Bob
