Since I have never seen your drawing professor, so I can't comment on the likeness. But since he seems to be a good teacher, and I am sure it is there. I especially like the pastel paper you have used and the fine shades in the face.
I also like the way you have used your pastels leading to a very delicate look of this portrait. Good use of high lights.
The format and framing is very good and the professor is well placed on the paper. I think this is a lovely and well done portrait Ray.

Thank you Annie, for the wonderful review. He was a great teacher, he taught me how to balance color, gesture drawing and many other techniques. I was very fortunate to have him as a professor. I am so glad you enjoy it. Ray

Hi Ray, this pastel on paper of your drawing teacher shows how to stand out with a minimalist way. The background and skin tones are the same but the teacher stands out so well. Your teacher continues to teach. Thanks for sharing, cheers.

Very well rendered to show your professor in profile.
Well shown head and face , good show of his facial structure , features and his glasses.
I like the soft tones and the way he comes forward from neutral background .
Well presented!

Hi Ray, Love that you can go in so many directions with your artistry. I think you do some really nice portraits. Love the softness of this on the beige background. You have just enough detail which adds a very nice look to the image.
This definitely deserves a six in my book! :o) Nancy

Nancy, Wow I am thrilled you like this portrait. Thank you for your wonderful review rating and excellent comments. This was the final exam, three portraits of the professor. The professor kept the other two and I have this one. As far as detail, I give you just enough to get my point across, where less is best. Photo realism does that, but whats the point just take a photo if you need details. Thank you again Nancy. Ray

I thought it was very cool! Don't know which images the professor got, but love the one you kept! :o) Nancy

The professor was so dedicated and he taught me how to see and understand what was important. Ray

This is way cool, it has such a retro look. It looks like the 70"s for sure. Rock and roll was king. The hairstyle and sunglasses speak for themselves. I think this is just a great piece of art. It belongs in a rock and roll museum!

Lise, thank you for you wonderful review. I am so glad you enjoy it. This was the final, three portraits of the professor. Two of them were kept and ended up in the faculty lounge, this one was returned to me.

An interesting portrait Ray as the minimalist use of color really works.
I like that the background is virtually the same as the skin tones but the details of face and hair still stands out.
