I love this image! It is a perfect entry to the contest AND has such a compelling story to be told - End of life, with the barren stems of recent life to the radiant leaf that is signifying a new chapter. Technically, this image is presented with demonstrated know how in both equipment knowledge as well as compositional experience.

I like the way it is situated within the frame and the way it steps forward from the darkness.
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is well managed. The red tones appear natural.

Simple but beautiful. Love the vibrant red Autumn leaf highlighted by the dark background. The way that this red leaf is hanging on that dried plant added a certain artistic element in this image. Excellent focus, angle, and lighting. The vertical frame fits well and overall this is a great entry.
