A lovely portrait of a Romany Gypsy, they are a culture onto their own. I Hungary we came across quite a few Romany gypsies; but also had quite a few in England we would see in the pastures camping out. You have captured her weathered face and clothing well.

Thank you very much for you good review. Yes, I came across a fair few in Poland, but while living in France I discovered a huge amount live there too, I became very close to a wonderful family there who I still visit from time to time.

This Romany gypsy is surely wearing a pretty colorful costume. Great angle and focus. You did well showcasing her facial features and how she dressed up herself with red beads accessory and colorful head covering. Must be exciting to have coffee with her in her camp fire. She looks like she is a pretty seasoned woman with so many adventures to tell. You captured her well. Wish you the best in this contest.

Thank you very much Nancy! I just looked up photos of the real Maria Von Trapp (not Julie Andrews! Lol) and you're right, she is really quite like her! Great review, thank you.

Thanks very much Brian! I did have a large circle of gypsy friends in France, which always tends to help when meeting the British ones - something I tend to mention when I first approach them, it works wonders! :)

Very beautiful piece of photography, here. She looks deep in conversation and natural, free of a forced pose for a portrait. A perfect entry for the , Color photography, contest, yellow and red make for a bright ambiance. Nice selection, focus, balance and all the things. Smiles

Thank you so much for your great review Jewell!
How are you btw? Long time no speak, I rarely find the time needed for fan art review now, but I do pop in from time to time.

You’re welcome! Thank you for asking about me. I’m dealing with some stressful things at home but nothing I can’t get through with new strategies. I think I’m done crying. Art is my great escape! I’m thankful for that!

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us a very good view of that old woman, who I expect has seen and experienced a lot in her life. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

Before I clicked on the thumbnail to view the larger image and read your notes, I thought "That is Colorful"; SO, I think you hit the criteria for the contest. LOL
This image was captured perfectly, with all camera settings fully "dialed" in, to achieve a clear, "detailed", crisp visual of the Gypsie and her jewelry. So sharp, in fact you can actually see each stitch in her knitted sweater. The colors are vivid but not over processed and I do believe you have about every color in this scene. I like the candidness of the Gypsie, whereas she is not posing, rather It appears you captured her speaking and blinking. You have framed the scene effectively, leaving room for movement. A nice entry, good luck in the contest.

Hi Kathy,
Thank you so much for your great and detailed review, I really appreciate your kind words, time and effort.
One detail that made me laugh on the original - that doesn't show on this much smaller version - were the hairs on her chin!!! I'm kinda glad for her sake that they don't show up here!
